National Pitbull Awareness Day is Saturday October 27th

Perusing through the Oregon Humane Society volunteer newsletter I found some very exciting information: Saturday is National Pit Bull Awareness Day! It’s no secret that we at Ruff Mutts are big bully lovers. We’re stoked to know that so many people out there are going above & beyond to celebrate the wonderful attributes that so many bully breed dogs have. Whether you’re a bully’s human or not, this weekend a few organizations right here in Portland are hosting some very fun events open to anyone wanting to promote the greatness of pit bulls. Bully Walk – Saturday, October 27th
Location: Ventura Park, SE Stark Street & 113th Ave
Time: 12pm
Details: The Neighborhood Pet Project and The Portland Pit Bull Project are hosting a coast to coast Bully Walk to raise awareness about the breed. Advocates for the breed and their friendly four-legged companions are invited to walk in support of pit bull type dogs and responsible pet ownership. This all-breeds welcome walk will include a festival at Ventura Park Elementary School featuring advocacy groups, bully-friendly businesses and a Halloween costume contest with fantastic fun and prizes.

Bully Brunch – Sunday, October 28th
Location: Tufenkian – 505 NW 10th Ave
Time: 11am – 1pm
Details: Advocacy and rescue groups from across the Portland area are hosting a Bully Brunch. Pit bulls are beautiful inside and out! You are invited to join us for refreshments, learn about responsible pet ownership and bully resources, and meet wonderful pit bulls available for adoption. Also meet the bully every Portlander has come to love, London. Dog-friendly pooches welcome to attend with owners. Participate in the fun and positive pit bull image by helping create a Beautiful Bullies video.
